Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is a comprehensive suite of advanced safety and driver assistance features that are standard in most 2023 and later Toyota models. The suite packages together six functional features aimed at increasing driver awareness and mitigating the possibility of a collision.
Safety Sense 3.0 Features
Pre-Collision System: This system mitigates the possibility of a frontal collision. It utilizes a system of cameras and sensors to detect cyclists, pedestrians, and vehicles and alert drivers with visual and audible cues if a collision is likely. If it becomes imminent, the system engages the brakes. The latest upgrade to the system widens the sensor range to improve intersection support.
Lane Departure Alert: On roads with clearly marked lanes, this system detects lane departure at speeds above 30 mph and alerts the driver. If the driver doesn’t take corrective action, the system gently steers the vehicle back into the center of the lane.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control: This adaptive cruise control system uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control to maintain a preset following distance from the vehicle ahead and a preset speed. It now has four cruise distance settings.
Lane Tracing Assist: This system works in tandem with the DRCC and helps the driver keep the vehicle centered between clearly marked lanes.
Road Sign Assist: Using a front-facing camera, this system detects speed limit signs, stop signs, do not enter signs, and yield signs and displays an icon on the vehicle's Multi-Information Display.
Automatic High Beams: (AHB) help drivers see clearly at night while also protecting other drivers from glaring lights by toggling between bright and low beam lights depending on oncoming traffic conditions.
Proactive Driving Assist: This feature is new for the 3.0 iteration of Toyota Safety Sense. This system provides gentle braking and assisted steering when driving into curves, helping to support driving tasks such as distance control.
